They were affectionate, fluffy, and usually white—those sheep of ancient Palestine. Their wool made fine-woven cloth that was warm and beautiful. But the sheep needed very special care. Without someone to lead them each day to fresh pasturage and clean water, they couldn’t survive in the arid and dusty climate. They’d wander off and get lost. Or they’d fall prey to attacks by wolves or lions.
So from the days of Abraham onward, there were heroic Israelites —“shepherds,” or “pastors” (which really means “feeders of the sheep”)—who protected and fed the herds. These shepherds cared for their sheep with the greatest kindness—guiding them with long rods, calling each one a special name, watching over the weaker members of the flock. Many times each day, the shepherds would count the sheep. And if even one was missing, the pastor would scour the countryside till he found it.
It’s no wonder that, over the centuries, the Hebrew people often described God as an infinitely kind Shepherd. And they thought of themselves as sheep who needed more than anything else to follow God with the humble trust and love of sheep.

Unfortunately, I was a single mom of three and a tipped employee. I reassured my daughter that we might have to use the credit card, “But we’ll find a way.” Tessa Deprez, of Orlando, offers a testimony that illustrates how God provides for us, even though the need is financial, not physical.

“But Mom,” I pointed out, “that new church we’re going to … they don’t do that, do they?” She agreed, but we both had to admit that we had no idea as to what they did do. Someone had brought home a copy of the Christian Science Journal, so we took a look at it, thinking it might offer an answer.”
Mark Spain, of Orlando, describes his first healing, as a teenager, of a disease that repeatedly caused him to miss school, until it was healed. Find out how.
Good news and bad news regarding DiscoveryBound’s Jetty Park campout — if you weren’t there, well, you’ll want to put it on your calendar for next year. But the good news is that you can get a taste of all the fun by taking a look at our SmugMug site, which also contains videos.

Our DiscoveryBound group in Central Florida has been holding events at Jetty Park, in Cape Canaveral, for ages, but we ventured into new territory, on November 6, 2021 for an event at Fort De Soto Park, near St. Petersburg. Coming from six states, 55 participants filled the day with kayaking, cycling (two-wheelers and four-wheelers), making new friends, and hearing our inspirational speaker, Donna Black, CS. Photos

Services
Church services are held every Sunday morning at 10:30. Join us for a timely lesson from the Bible and our Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures! The public is always welcome. No need to dress up. Feel free to come as you are! Child care is provided.
We also meet on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 to share how Christian Science has impacted our lives through healing. Christian Science promotes the healing of both sin and disease … in short, the healing of any kind of error. These testimony meetings feature hymns, Bible readings, and spontaneously given testimonies of healing from those in attendance.
We are now meeting in the church as well as simultaneously on Zoom, for both Sunday and Wednesday meetings.
